Knowledge Day at Timiryazev Academy

The table of festive events includes:

  • welcome address by the Rector, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir I. Trukhachev;
  • greetings of the honored guests;
  • presentations of institutes and student organizations;
  • concert performances;
  • presentation of student ID cards;
  • surprises from the organizers.

At the end of the university-wide part, the freshmen are to go to solemn meetings at their institutes.
In the meanwhile, September 2 is scheduled for senior students to study according to the schedule of training sessions.

Pleasant memories of Alma mater

Over the 159 years of its history, Timiryazev Academy has become the Alma mater for more than 250 thousand professionals who work in the field of agriculture in dozens of countries all over the world. A significant part of graduates are citizens of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

Every year representatives of a particular participating country organize meetings of the association, this year the event took place in two Kazakh cities – Shymkent and Turkestan.
In his speech, Rector, Vladimir I. Trukhachev sent a warm greeting to the graduates and noted that Timiryazev Academy considers the strengthening of ties with foreign graduates to be one of the significant tasks.

Following the meeting, the participants shared their memories and expressed gratitude to Timiryazev Academy, as well as to the organizers of the event.

Professor Jiang Ping'an, Rector of Xinjiang Agricultural University, noted a warm welcome from the staff of Timiryazev Academy and personally from Vladimir I. Trukhachev, Rector of Timiryazev Academy.

Promising areas of cooperation could include crop production, animal husbandry, land reclamation, hydraulic structures and others.

Assistant of Biotechnology Department won the CIS scientific project contest

Yulia Dudina entered into the contest with the project "Chlorella suspension as a source of nutrient medium for plants Alternanthera reineckii roseafolia and Oldenlandia salzmannii in vitro". Under the guidance of Professor Elena A. Kalashnikova the young scientist carries out research devoted to the method of aquatic plants propagation in vitro.

In 2024 Astana hosted the "Best Scientific Project-2024" contest, timed to the 125th anniversary of Academician Kanysh I. Satpayev. The miscellany/ Conference Proceedings presentation and the awarding ceremony took place within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference. All international project qualifiers were invited to this event.

Following the Contest, the Conference Proceedings with international standard book number ISBN and reference data of the bobek-kz.com publishing house will be issued. The articles' metadata will be accessible on the eLIBRARY.RU website.

Young specialists of Timiryazev Academy took part in the environmental forum as speakers

Students of "South-West" Educational Cluster took part in the forum. They actively exchanged their opinions and offered their ideas on solving environmental problems.

Maria Vorontsova, an Educational Cluster trainer, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She noted that Timiryazev Academy and the educational cluster have a long and close cooperation. Many students of the Cluster become applicants of Timiryazev Academy.

Environmental protection and rational use of natural resources became key issues at the forum. Dmitry Osin, a meteorologist from Timiryazev Academy, spoke about the main causes of global climate change and gave an example of the Mikhelson Meteorological Observatory data.

Yaroslava Zhigaleva, Ecology Department assistant, told the forum participants about the role of greenhouse gases on our planet, the principles of their regulation and their impact on the world economy.

Mikhail Yashin, Ecology Department professor of "South-West" Educational Cluster, a graduate of Timiryazev Academy, made a report on modern methods of the environment impact regulating.

Career guidance counseling came into the picture as well: representatives of Timiryazev Academy told the Cluster's trainees about the advantages of studying at the University, fields of education, enrollment requirements and entrance exams.

Students of Timiryazev Academy became finalists of the competition

Students from different universities participated in the competition. Their projects were evaluated by the purpose and strategy, uniqueness, expected results, sources and conditions of financing, availability of intellectual property, economic efficiency, implementation risks and opportunities.

15 best projects, including the project of students of Timiryazev Academy, were selected by the jury. The projects will be presented in the final.

The CPV project includes artificial intelligence, a satellite image parser and an ergonomic interface, which can monitor the condition of pastures.

Students of the Institute of Economics and Management in Agribusiness Ralina Tishina, Gleb Volobuyev and Elizaveta Shevtsova under the guidance of Anastasia Grechneva, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Informatics and Olga Ermolaeva, Senior Lecturer of the Department worked out this project. The practical part was carried out in the University's Laboratory.
