In the year of the outstanding researcher's anniversary the University has received the exclusive documents from Cambridge University about the ceremony of awarding Kliment Timiryazev with the title of Honorary Doctor.
Recently an answer was received from the Cambridge University Committee on Honours Degrees, stating that previously the degrees had been awarded only on request, and Kliment Timiryazev had not done so. But in the pages of the University's annual official publication "The Reporter" for 1909 the entire awarding ceremony was described in detail.
From the documents we learned that the awards ceremony was held in the Senate House, Cambridge University, on Thursday 24 June 1909. Since the celebration was timed to coincide with the 100th birthday anniversary of the great naturalist, Charles Darwin, a graduate of the University, on the eve of June 23, the Chancellor of the University gave a reception in honour of the guests, which was attended by best representatives of the scientific world and 481 invitees.
The University administration, the staff of the Memorial Museum - flat of K.A. Timiryazev and the museum complex of RSAU - MTAA sincerely thanked the Cambridge University Committee for the materials provided.
