The Vavilov School of Young Scientists "Plant Genetic Resources: Preservation and Use in Breeding for the Food Security of the Russian Federation" was held at the branches of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources.
The concept of the Vavilov School program is focused on issues of breeding work on agricultural crops that are a priority for ensuring food security in Russia and import substitution - wheat, sunflower, sugar beet, soybeans and others.
This year, 27 young scientists from St. Petersburg, the Novosibirsk Region, Yakutia, Adygea, the Krasnodar Territory and Moscow became participants in the Vavilov School. Among them are master students of the Institute of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture of the RT SAU Yulia Degtyareva and Victoria Kulagina. Representatives of the Timiryazev Academy noted that the visit to the Kuban Genetic Seed Bank made it possible to get an idea of the approaches to modern gene banking, and participation in the School itself provided an opportunity not only to acquire new knowledge, but also to get acquainted with colleagues from all over Russia, to exchange experience with them.
As a result of participation in the program, Yu. Degtyarevа and V. Kulaginа received documents on advanced training.
