The Faculty of Economics and Finances is a relatively new Faculty of the University but it is famous for its traditions, scientific and pedagogical schools. The Faculty has more than 70 faculty members, including 10 professors, 3 academicians and 28 associate professors.
The scientists of the Faculty are the authors of textbooks on accounting, statistics, audit and management accounting. These textbooks are widely used in the teaching processes of Russian agrarian educational institutions. Accounting and Audit in Agriculture as an independent scientific school was formed by the Department of Accounting in Agriculture.
Training at the Faculty is provided by 9 Departments:
- Economic Analysis and Audit
- Higher Mathematics
- Applied Informatics
- Statistics and Econometry
- Taxation and financial law
- Computer Engineering and applied mathematics
- Buisness process engineering
The training in specialty Accounting, Analysis and Audit is based on a wide use of application software for accounting, analytical and statistical analysis, as well as various teaching aids and interactive teaching methods. Among them are lectures-presentations, computer technologies, business games and case studies.
In 1996 two structural subdivisions were formed at the Faculty: the Educational and Methodic Center on Attestation and Continuous Education of Auditors of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and the Educational and Methodic Center of the Institute of Professional Accountants of Russia. Since 1996 more than 3500 auditors and professional accountants and over 4000 specialists have received extended education at the Faculty.
At present there are 900 students, more than 50 postgraduate students at the Faculty.
The main research areas of the faculty:
- accounting and informational support for sustainable development in rural areas;
- application of statistics, econometrics and informatics to financial systems;
- analysis and construction of the system supporting information management in agriculture.
