Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Trukhachev presented a report at the Second meeting of the of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum Scientific Council Secretariat. The speech was devoted to the interaction of the Timiryazev Academy with African states. Participants discussed the problems of Russian-African developing cooperation in the field of agriculture, biological resources and medicine. Special attention was paid to teaching and research work of undergraduate and graduate students from African countries. Among the promising areas of cooperation between the Timiryazev Academy and African countries, one can single out the training of personnel at all levels of education, the implementation of network educational programs. For example, the university is considering the possibility of opening a master's program in the direction of «35.04.04 Agronomy - "Agrotechnology in the tropics and subtropics" / "Tropical and subtropical crop production"». It will be beneficial for both parties to create the Information and Analytical Center for Agroecological Testing on the basis of RSAU-MTAA. Such a project will require the support of international organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - FAO, the World Bank, as well as specialized Russian companies.

At the Faculty of Technology, students met with graduate Ekaterina Mutovkina, now a successful entrepreneur in the coffee industry. The specialist told how she was trained, what problems she faced, and what experience she gained from her practice in Brazil. Ekaterina Mutovkina graduated from the Faculty of Technology and Master's Degree from the Department of Metrology, Standardization and Quality Management. Ekaterina took the initiative and directly wrote a letter to professors of the Brazilian Federal University of Espírito Santo. It is the largest university and research center in the state of Espirito Santo in southeastern Brazil. Scientists from a Brazilian university were interested in the student's request for practical training and invited her for a two-month internship. Upon graduation, the student defended her master's thesis in Timiryazevka on the topic of roasting coffee. At a meeting with students of the Faculty of Technology, Ekaterina told what basic knowledge and skills you need to have in order to complete an internship program, and also shared the secrets of overcoming the language barrier.
The alumnus thanked the teachers of the RSAU-Moscow Agricultural Academy for the valuable theoretical knowledge gained in the learning process and shared her plans for entering the postgraduate study in Timiryazevka. Ekaterina plans to continue her research activities at the alma mater. According to Anna Voronina, Deputy Head of the Department of International Educational Programs of the RSAU-MTAA, now Brazilian partners have come up with an initiative to create a joint project of academic mobility for young researchers.
As a result of the meeting, many university students became interested in opportunities to practice at the Brazilian Federal University of Espirito Santo.
More than 29 thousand participants of the student contest "I am a Professional" successfully completed the online selection tasks and made it to the final stage. 148 students will represent Timiryazev Academy in the final. "I am a professional" is one of the flagship projects of the presidential platform "Russia - a country of opportunities", implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The final stage of the student contest starts in mid-February and will last until the end of April 2021. All-Russian contest for students "I am a professional" is one of the largest student competitions in the country. Bachelor, master and graduate students of Russian universities can take part in the contest. The goal of the project is to support talented students of various specialties, which will allow them to continue their studies at the country's leading university and start a career in a large company.
The diploma winners of the "I am a professional" contest will become known in May 2021, when the organizers will sum up the results of the final stage of the competition. Depending on the points scored, the winners will be divided into prize-winners, winners and medalists.

The cooperation between Timiryazev Academy and the Foundation for the Commercialization and Implementation of Agricultural Technologies of the Republic of Korea was launched last year. Our scientists gave an assessment of the current state and development prospects of individual segments of the agri-food market in Russia at the major international forum KOREA SEED EXPO 2020 where they were invited by the Korean side. Cooperation continued, and now joint work will be carried out to assess the latest Korean system for year-round outdoor strawberry cultivation, as well as this crop will be adapted to Russian soils. The experiment will be carried out on the basis of the educational, scientific and production center of RSAU-MTAA "Vegetable Experimental Station named after V.I. Edelstein ". Following the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Agamagomed Radjabov emphasized that the project is interesting from a scientific point of view. Its results will be used in the educational process and in research of graduate students of the Horticulture and Landscape Engineering faculty.

Participants in the competition can be 1st and 2nd year students of training areas related to agriculture, food production or risk management systems. The American Cargill International Scholarship Program provides students with the opportunity to receive financial support and develop leadership skills. Scholarships are awarded to talented students who demonstrate high academic performance and leadership potential.
